DataMaster Purchases Davis County’s Fairfield Crossing Building for New Office Headquarters
September 28, 2015—Salt Lake City, Utah. Newmark Grubb ACRES and Mountain West Retail and Investment (MWRI) are pleased to announce the sale of Davis County’s 16,000 square foot Fairfield Crossing Building located at 837 E. Fairfield Road in Layton, Utah.
Newmark Grubb ACRES Vice President Chris Falk, CCIM, SIOR, represented the buyer, DataMaster, in this transaction. The seller was represented by MWRI’s retail specialist Adam Hawkes.
DataMaster is a real estate appraisal software company with over thirty years of experience in the industry. After experiencing substantial growth both locally and nationwide, they needed a larger facility that could appropriately accommodate their entire team. “We are expanding so fast that we need enough space for all of our employees, as well as the ability to continue to grow,” commented DataMaster’s President Rick Lifferth.
The new location, which was a former retail asset, had struggled with vacancy for several years but will now be used primarily as an office space for DataMaster’s sales and tech services. Regarding the transaction Mr. Hawkes remarked, “Market conditions and trends have prevented this building from being leased and used for general retail. It is a favorable thing to have an office user acquire this and re-establish occupancy at this property.”
When speaking on the significance of the transaction Mr. Falk commented, “DataMaster had a number of opportunities to move further south and dip into the growing tech pool, however they decided to remain loyal to their roots and current employees by remaining in Davis County. This was a big win for the area as similar tech or high-growth companies continue to put down larger roots in Davis County.”
